drop tine spot and stalk

After watching this buck and a larger one turn away from my stand and head into CRP I made the decision to get out of my stand and try to spot and stalk. Lost the big one but couldn't turn this one down when he walked straight to me. Shot him at 6 yards while i was kneeling in grass. 6 x4 with a 3 inch drop tine.

How far did he go with that shot placement?

I've always passed that shot, just curious how effective it is.

Cool story and nice buck!

It's not a shot i would choose had i had the option but I'm comfortable with the shot.  Deer ran 30 to 40 yards I suppose than stood there for about 15 min before going down. As far as how effective, I'm pretty sure it's always a kill shot. I've found myself in positions similar to this and it's always worked with a straight on neck shot... 4 for 4. Always close shots and always very comfortable with the shots

Are the good times really over for good?

I'm gonna guarantee that buck a ride in the puckup truck!
