Last day is always a bummer. Did get 1 to close the season.

Depressions sets in.

Found more pheasants than predicted. And some monsters. Numerous 2 years old birds.

Hopefully the fact that everything has been hayed won't coincide with a tough winter.  That'd be trouble.

I noticed that, too tinlaw. Birds scarce early on but seemed to get better the further the season progressed, with plenty of long tailed/long spurred ones.

That's what I was told to expect, but rarely do predictions about bird hunting pan out.  They definitely were bigger and older on average.

Many pieces south and west of Bismarck (Flasher area for example) that generally produced in the past, even in the tough years, were wiped out this fall.  Hopefully they will get a break in 2018.

Grouse were by my counts way down in the central areas of ND too.  More so even than the pheasant.

Not over yet, there is “always” something to hunt!
