Funny how the AG didnt want those laws - as it would offend the feds.

Where was he on the abortion bans - those will start an uproar with the feds.

Oh well.

That said, lets talk about other implications of this law. The unintended unintended consequences:

As another site was discussing - any fertilized egg is now.......a child....a baby...a human.

So all those fertilized embryos at hundreds of fertilization clinics - now are children - and should be put up for adoption if unused by the original donors. They cannot be disposed of - that would be murder according to those pushing the buttons on the national level of the ahem...right to life group.

Call that silly - but your kind are pushing for that as I write this. Do a net search.

BTR, for one thing my first post was how abortion is used for a cop out, or natural selection. That is all and if you can find a reason to justify this go ahead if it makes you dream happy thoughts at night. You turn this into christian bashing

Now I believe you should read other peoples post a little better before you go out christian bashing. For one thing you do not know what the true term of christian means.
I mean you sound like 10 year old on the playground whos momma doesn't wipe their nose before school.

Baaaaddd christians, I mean come on get over it. Why does somebodys faith bug so much. shove it down your throat, What about the queers, all day tv, news, magazines, what about booze, I want to sit down and watch the Super Bowl with my kids and all we see is booze commercials shoved down my throat. I mean that sounds laughable, right well that is how you sound, I dont like it I change the channels pretty easy eh.

Now Hitler christian no, was religious, you bet, he does claim to be catholic which at the time germany was at the time 60% catholic, which explains the strong anti semite attitude. Hitler strongest beliefs was natural selection, well how could he believe in evolution if he was christian, you cannot believe in both.

By the way what is your point to say Hitler was christian, so what. There has been alot of killing in the name of God, especially by the catholic empire, muslims, does not mean it was by God, Jesus said for God so loved the world, it does not say for God so loved the world only if you convert or die.

"The point of what I was saying, is that so many religious people conveniently either leave out the religion part the Hitler's madness, or, they've been misled to out right deny this."

Deny WHAT?  You say that 95% of the target followers of Hitler were Christian??  And because they called themselves Christian (if this number is even remotely accurate) THAT is why they supported Hitler??  These same people would have supported Hitler had they been agnostic or athiest.  They being Christian had ZERO to do with it.  Early on especially the common man did not see what a monster he was, could not see it.  Even after the war much of Germany could not believe what he had done and represented.  Hitler was supported by the German people because like Barrack dumb azz Obozo he was a pied piper.  Germany had a terrible economic hangover from WWI and the German people felt raped by the Treaty of Versailles.   The dumb and blind sheep of Germany followed this motivator and great promiser of good just like they now follow Obozo here.

So now Eyekllr tells us the main reason he is for abortion on demand is because of how he doesn't like government intrusion.   It must be a shallow lie, I can't believe he is really that slow.

It is government intrusion to protect the life of a living human being?   The GOVERNMENT can pick and choose the VALUE of human life and THAT'S not intrusion??

You can debate whether conseption is life, but there is NO debate that brain waves, heart beat, need for nourishment, and distinctive and unique form is life.
Human life.  The Constitution protects all human life.  THAT is the responsibility of not only the government but all citizens.

Please go study Hitler.  First and foremost Hitler was socialist.  People didn't like him because they thought he was Christian they liked him because he promised them things.  He promised to get them out of the financial bind the nation was in, but he drug them deeper.  Sound familiar?

Sorry of subject, but the Hitler thing was so ignorant it needed to be addressed again.

Yeah - your kind. The same ones who want to impose their beliefs on everyone else, and use more intrusive laws to do it. The only one with an ego and an issue is you. So large in fact that you revel in imposing your views and beliefs on all others. Don't like the truth of what your supporting and the repercusions - too bad.

But you go on and gloat with your self-righteousness. Fact of the matter is it wont last long - the law will be tore apart before it is all said and done, and it wont amount to a hill of beans.

As I said previously, SCOTUS will ensure that.

As for the gun thing the others responded too - save the trite remarks. But the fact is if people were so passionate about their constitutional rights we would have less issues. If the same level of passion was shown in preserving our 2A rights, as to this abortion bill, we might have sent a message to the AG and the ND legislature. Weak try at twisting it as a shot against anyone who didn't show at the rally.

Next......

We can keep doing this all day and night for all I care - right up till it gets struck down and the 50 percent of you that think your opinion is more important than everyone else's rights come back to cry... over losing.

And I will say this - as another said - it is easily 75 to 25 against this law out there in the coffee shops, malls, stores and meeting places.

Please stop calling it pro abortion. It is pro choice not pro abortion. There is a big difference. I doubt anybody actually encourages and supports anybody to have an abortion. I support the choice not the act. This legislation is pointless anyways. Say it does pass and abortion is all but banned in ND. Women will just go where they can get an abortion. Lets focus on solving the actual problem shall we? More focus on sex education and planned parenthood is a good start. Putting laws in place to limit abortion is as pointless as saying that taking away guns will stop violence. We need to stop being so ignorant.

Plainsman Said:
A Man, me, comes in - throws some rational thought into it - dispels some of the extremist views the so-called pro-lifers throw about...........and I get a backhanded death threat from a fool on the net who seems to think his identity is an unknown. What an idiot.

I seen that post something about aborting you.  Do you really take that serious?  I looked at it as the guy wanted you to think about the child's position.  You want to demonize him to win your debate.  How can I look at that as anything other than a cheap shot.  I guess it has become emotional on all sides.

Does anyone understand yet that any law forces life style on others?  Every law passed does that, yet we still hear the bit about "I can't force my will".  That's all bs because the people who say it do it every day.   All of our freedoms or loss thereof hinge on the will of society every day.  The phrase "I can't force my will" is a cop out, and the truth is those people support abortion but don't want anyone to know it.

Well maybe that last part is not correct for everyone involved.  Perhaps it would be more accurate to say "they could not support abortion anymore if the tried".  In other words they think they are neutral, but there is no such thing in this case.  Your either pro abortion or pro life.   Declaring neutrality is supporting abortion.  It's like a police officer coming upon a man prepared to shoot another and saying I'm neutral it''s not my business, I can't force me will.

THIS legislation is anything BUT pointless.  One big point is abortion should absolutely be a STATES issue.  Period.

I agree we should be more proactive on the issue.  That sure won't come from Planned Parenthood, the taker of millions in blood money.

The real problem begins and ends with the collapse of moral structure in this country.  Not sure what can be done about that, especially with the lack of leadership we have in DC.  The family is where this must begin, and that family is under attack too.

Education and birth control accesibility sound great, but I guess we need to do it differently.  It's not working.  One thing we could do, and it's going to cost money, is we could offer the pregnant mother an alternative.  It would not eliminate abortion of course, just save many lives.  ALL mothers should be educated about the baby they carry before ever being offered a "choice".  Many simply do not understand the reality.  The alternative would then be to carry the baby to birth and then put it up for adoption.  ALL expenses paid.  The state would carry the cost, and then pass them on to the adopted family.  Many, many couples are begging for a baby and willing to pay $10,000 and far more.  It's a real alternative.  Medical, counseling, and time off work all paid for.

Education and birth control availability. Not working? HUH?   Maybe because there isn,t much if any.  And any education and birth control dissemination in USA is pretty powerless when it comes to the religious right!   As I said before, who is some girl going to believe regarding safety and how various Bc methods work?  An respected old guy In white collar or one of the hundred thousand plus members of the American college of obstetrics and gynecology?  And who is her mother going to believe?
Of course, being an old fuddy duddy with low intelligence, I,ve never had any personal experience in this topic, nor have any of my fellow partners (now probably partners in crime!) overthepast 44 10/12 years since graduation from college!   LOL
I,leave decisions like this up to you and Margaret Sitte,

Ahhhh, you mean like quit calling it Global Warming when it's just Climate Change.

Pro Choice is just the leftist chosen version of Pro Abortion.  It sounds better.  "Oh, nobody wants to kill a lot of babies but we should be able to kill babies so let's not make it sound like we want to do it......."    This, is what you are saying.

Well, let's see what the old leftist has dug up.  (I love how he has claimed to be a "conservative" when he attacks conservatives any time he can manage a jaded attempt)

"UNTIL THE COUNTRY LOOKS AT THE PROBLEM OF UNINTENDED PREGNANCIES AS A LARGELY PREVENTABLE MEDICAL PROBLEM"

YES, largely PREVENTABLE!!  And how do we do that, MR. Liberal??   Well, through termination of the unwanted life, of course!  Using abortion, the slaughter of a human baby, as birth control!   It's just birth control!!

" WASTING TOME AND RESOURCES WHILE THE REST OF THE WORLD LAUGHS AT US!"

The world laughs at us because of Barack dumb azz Obozo and the weak 2nd term of W/Pelosi/Reid.

YES, not all but much of the world has embraced abortion as birth control.  With countries like China actually murdering by gender.  This is what the blind and dumb liberal in general wants us to become.

This is the meat of the issue.  I could not disagree more.  Abortion is to "abort" human life.  To abort is to stop something already in process.  In this case, human life.  It is the termination of human life.  It is the murder of a human being.

Nobody has the right to murder another human being.  The rights of this baby human are being infringed in the worst possible way.  We will not be and can not be a civilized society while we have government that sanctions the termination of innocent life.  It does not get more innocent than a baby.

Abortion Rate Among Black Women Sparks Debate in Community

Monday, March 14, 2011]

A controversial anti-abortion billboard that went up — and was taken down — in Soho last month targeting the black community with the tag line "The Most Dangerous Place for an African-American is in the Womb" sparked debate about the city's abortion rate.

Fifty-seven percent of black pregnancies in the city end in abortion, according to 2009 data from the city's Department of Health. For white women, the number is 20 percent and for the city overall it is about 39 percent. Though the number of abortions among black women remained steady for several years, the statistic startled some within the community.

It became the topic of a morning public affairs show on hip-hop and R&B station Hot 97 last Sunday.

"Why are so many women in this situation to begin with?" posed host Lisa Evers. "I mean, having unprotected sex and then letting it get to an unplanned pregnancy?"

Blogger Jamilah Sister Toldja Lemieux chimed in: "Culturally, we're almost suicidal. ... We don't place a certain value on our own lives," she said.

The number of 15- to 19-year olds giving birth or having abortions overall has for the most part trended downward for the last 10 years. And some teenagers in the city are having meaningful conversations about self-control, self-esteem and respectful relationships — but putting those into practice isn't always easy.

Sixteen-year-old Anthony Murray, who is part of Brooklyn Teen P.A.C.T. (Positive Actions and Choices for Teens), has been trained as a sex educator for teens. He said among his group of friends wearing condoms is mandatory.

"We’re actually working on a PSA, a public service announcement, trying to raise awareness on using condoms and having protected sex," Murray said.

But Melody Ovalle, also 16 and trained as a sex educator, said girls may find it difficult to ask boys to wear condoms: "It's kinda disrespectful in a way to tell a teenager, 'Oh, you have to use a condom,' because they’ll take it as an insult that you asked them to wear a condom when it's really just about sexual health," she said.

The teenagers said their peers can be afraid to go to health clinics and may feel like they have to hide their sexual activity. Lack of communication about sex can lead to believing in myths about sex, they said.

Abortions are highest among women between the ages of 20 and 29 across all ethnicities.

Dr. Gail Blakley, director of Women’s Health Services at Community Healthcare Network, said she believes the abortion rate among black women should be seen as another health disparity.

Blakley, who oversees three clinics that serve primarily low-income black and Latina women, said those who are uninsured and not going to the doctor regularly are less likely to discuss different contraceptive methods and ways to prevent sexually transmitted infections.

Blakley said she regularly sees women of all ages who are not well informed and who pick contraception they can't keep up with. The pill, for instance, must be taken around the same time everyday.

Blakley also said negotiating condom use isn’t just a problem for teenagers.

"If you're not very confident and have the self esteem to say,' No, this is what I would like to do', you may find yourself succumbing to their demands," said Blakley.

Other healthcare providers say putting your foot down is even harder when a young girl's partner is much older or when a woman is in an abusive relationship.

Taja Lindley, 25, volunteers as an abortion doula for an organization called The Doula Project and said she hasn't noticed a trend that's different for black women. Like a birth doula, Lindley said she provides compassion and support for women, which means she does simple things like bring them water and crackers. She also there to provide emotional support for those who seem anxious or look like they need to talk.

"I talk to them a little bit about what’s going on ... and ask them about how they might have ended up in that situation and what kind of form of birth control are you going to use after today or what kind of contraception do you use," said Lindley.

Lindley said not everyone wants to open up about their situations but at least one woman who was married and already had kids said she couldn’t afford another child. While she doesn’t know the income level of the women she’s seeing, she also believes the abortion rate is tied to poverty and health disparities and she questions the intentions of anti-abortion groups trying to draw attention to the black abortion rate.

"At the end of the day I don’t think it's about a concern for black babies or about black women I think black women are being used as pawns for another agenda that’s not that concerned about the health and well being of black women in our families and our communities," said Lindley.

At a recent press conference, Pastor Stephen Broden from the Texas based group Life Always -- the group behind the Soho billboard -- said he expected that black women would respond negatively to the ad "in large part it’s because they have only heard one side of the argumentation," he said.

Broden said more women need to know they can keep their babies because he believes the survival of the black community is tied to the mother’s womb. Meanwhile, women's groups across the country are continuing to organize and protest the billboard campaign.

eyekiller what have you done for the preservation of the second amendment

Well first I did the basics;

1) Joined NRA
2) Joined GOA

Than I did a routine of calls, and handwritten letters to our reps and other reps from other states as part of a get out the message program launched and perpetrated on several of the large firearms sites.

Always posting information here, when work permits - so people know what is going on.

From that I tried to help in small ways with Roscoe's legislation regarding protecting the 2A in our state senate.

I am pretty disappointed about that however, I told Roscoe I would back with my attendance, testimony, friends and money anything he wanted to put forth. He never took that offer though - I think he believed his bills would be a slam dunk.

I admit I too thought so.

I didn't count on our own AG coming up against them.

I have also talked with the founders of ConcealedCarry who are now trying to get a open carry pro 2A fishing event going. I have not stepped up on that tournament though. I will if they ask of course - but I am not sure it is the best route.

Sure would like to put all heads together and get a cookout and demonstration at the capital lined up. And yes I know our state is Pro 2A - but it never hurts to remind them of what is important to us voters.

That's my story - I wish I were more involved, but I jump in wherever I can help.

I hope your doing the same.

It will take all of us - win or lose.

Thinking more about this thread and abortion.

I think I can say that no one here likes the idea of abortions, or would consider same for someone in their family.

There is common ground there.

Just some of us believe there should not be laws banning it.

I personally see it as intrusive government. I don't have to like something, but don't want the government mandating my beliefs on others.

Others do.

Is there a right and wrong - and shall we even call it a right or wrong thing.

I think we shouldn't, but than I like to be naïve and think we also shouldn't let it divide us to the point that we cannot stand together on other issues we all believe in.

Something to think about people.

It is easy to get hot in such a discussion. I know that as well as anyone as I happen to have a very hot temper.

As such it is easy to say divisionary things - perhaps we all need to tone down the insults and sweeping generalizations.

Maybe we best all agree to disagree.

Kllr out.

I predict many "pro choice" folks will be against aborting when it becomes possible to determine if a baby will be gay, transgender,  etc.   However,  they will be ok with it if the baby is predicted to be a conservative.

A point of confusion for me is that a mother is allowed to abort her baby but if someone runs into her with a vehicle and her baby dies that person can be charged with murder. That is totally inconsistent to me. Does it really matter who kills the baby? How can a baby be a human being in one circumstance and a fetus in another?

Funny thing, that has come up in courts.

No one with an under three month pregnancy has been charged with the homicide of same in an accident.

Hey looky there...isnt that about the cut off time for an abortion as well.

Gee....think there might be a coincidence.

And lets not forget about the couple who know their child is to be born with numerous disabilities....make them have that child as well. Damned be their burden or the quality of the childs life....I mean it is all about your sitting at home feeling pretentious and trite in forcing your beliefs on others.

Looks like the chief justice of the California supreme court disagrees with your assessment.

www.nytimes.com/1994/05/20/us/when-the-death-of-a-fetus-is-murder.html

Thanks to anti abortionists and their endless assault to make a embryo attain the same level as an actual born child....

My kind????? I point out that you are wrong and you respond with "My Kind". LMFAO.
Apparently you are one of those people with a HUGE ego that can't stand when someone points out you are wrong. You don't even have a clue exactly what my thinking is on abortion. It's an extremely delicate question and a moral dilemma. But it's intolerable when people like yourself throw around wild accusations and think everyone fits into a little box that you chose to put them in.

Unfortunately a jackass such as yourself is too stupid too even understand my point. So I guess I'll just have to lay it out for you.

My kind wishes every child is loved and there were no abortions.
My kind does not support abortion as a birth control method.
My kind understands there are times when abortion may be the selected option of a pregnant female.
My kind believes in giving people a hand when they are in need but objects to the welfare state as a lifestyle.
My kind defends your right to free speech even though I may disagree with you.
My kind defends your right to an AR type firearm even though I do not choose to own one myself.
My kind is for limited government whenever possible.
My kind tries to insure justice is done in the court system and some overzealous leo or prosecutor doesn't convict you of a crime you didn't commit.
My kind believes in giving to those who are truly in need.

Perhaps that gives you a better understanding of who I am not matter what you assume.

By the way, the only reason abortion is legal is because an activist court found some phantom "right to privacy".  Had there been a different composition to the court we wouldn't be having this conversation. Amazing how one person here or there can determine the law of the land.

How many of you know that the Roe in Roe versus Wade is a lesbian who wanted to abort her kid so she took it to court, but now is a staunch anti abortion activist who has a great relationship with the woman she almost killed?

That's all well and good and oh so wonderfully normal and freedom loving.  And you managed to try and paint yourself as this, that and the other. Such very careful wording as you tiptoe through it to paint yourself as an everyday freedom loving guy - a real American.

Too bad it is nothing but garbage meant to cover the stench of the original topic and your nanny government love.

Complete and utter honiness....

And why - because when you unwrap all that - you get down to the core - where you are all about Forcing your beliefs on others - with the typically brazen and egocentric ideal that yours is the right view - theirs is wrong - so they must submit to you.

Let me break it down into small sentences you might be able to grasp.

A real freedom loving man knows that freedom comes with the cost of allowing some things that he may not like. Why....so you don't infringe on others as you would not have them infringe on you.

Your welcome to detest abortion, I do. But your not welcome to the audacity of imposing your views on others. Period.

Now you can post all the drivel you like. Call some names, act like your somebody to choose for others.

There I even bolded things to call your diminished cognitive ability to them........

For the most part you are all right in some form or another.  You have to start to become little r republicans.  Now actually the Governor by signing the law as passed by the legislators was correct in the way these things should be handled.  It should be handled at the state level and not by the feds.  What's good for New York is not necessarily good for North Dakota.  And yes we will never all agree and the founders knew this.  When I have a question I ask "What would our founders say about this?"

From Ashland University.  (This is a good read if you have about 10 minutes.)

Website: http://ashbrook.org/publications/onprin-v3n3-stripling/

Quote from article:

"The American Founders were convinced that moral and religious issues are generally better left to be decided by local consensus. They did not believe this because they were moral relativists. On the contrary, they emphatically rejected the view that morality is merely a matter of what one happens to believe is moral. But they also knew that human reason is fallible and easily deceived by passion and self-interest, especially when issues of life and death such as abortion are at stake.

The Founders believed that these issues are so difficult and controversial that wide general agreement on them is unlikely. As Madison said, we are not angels, nor are we governed by angels: we are a society of human beings governing other human beings. We do not possess divine wisdom. Intellectually honest people of good will can and do disagree passionately about the questions most important to human life. Therefore, it would be highly imprudent to attempt to enforce a national consensus on them."
There is a lot more out there.

Have you ever heard about the history of Planned Parenthood?  Margaret Sanger?

Take a read...... you will be shocked.  You won't look at Planned Parenthood the same.

Haha, you have that sooo backwards it's crazy. Where have you been the last year? The reason I'm not bothering to go into any depth is because you guys are completely in denial.

Alpine Said:

Deny that fact that Christianity played a part in Hitler's popularity, played a part in him gaining hatred for jews. Some things are just undebatable. It's that simple.

Well because some people are confused. Some people think for some strange reason that one must must conform to one party's line of thinking.

For the record, I could care less what people think of me, but I am very much against abortion.

So that being said then you would agree that the kkk, also considered a Christian organization and started by Democrats was wildly popular because of Christianity?  Like nazism the kkk was popular because of racism.  That would be the same as saying NASCAR is wildly popular because of Ford or GM.  A lot of us drive those vehicles and believe in them but we aren't all NASCAR fans.

There are a lot of people that would jump on any bandwagon to get a result they felt was furthering their cause.  The human struggle is to be free and it has been proven time and time again that people are swayed by leaders who claim that they will take them to the faux promise land.  What better to use as an instrument than religion.  That's how we get Islamic terrorists.  They subvert the Muslim teachings just like hitler did.  You've made it clear your religious stance but the stories in the bible warn against following false prophets time and time again.  If you want an extremely short summary of the bible watch the Bible series on the History Channel.  It repeats over and over again.  Freedom ---> faltering beliefs and erosion of values/morals ---> oppression and dictatorial rule ----> revolution then back to freedom.  Rinse and Repeat.

Exactly.  This is clearly about infringing on all people and any people.  In this direct case the baby in question.  No person, and no government has any right to infringe on this babies right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

"Deny that fact that Christianity played a part in Hitler's popularity, played a part in him gaining hatred for jews. Some things are just undebatable. "

You are not only clueless, you are delusional.
